Running out of time before the AP Psychology exam? This last-minute cram guide covers the new 2025 exam format, the highest-yield units, and exactly what to review when time is short.
AP Psychology New Exam Format (2025+)
AP Psych switched formats in 2025. The new exam has two sections: the Applied Analysis Questions (AAQ) and the Evidence-Based Questions (EBQ). There are no longer standalone MCQ and FRQ sections — questions are now integrated with stimulus materials throughout.
Highest-Yield Units for Last-Minute Review
- Unit 1 — Biological Bases of Behavior: Neuron firing, neurotransmitters, key brain structures, plus signal detection theory and perceptual cues. The largest unit (15–25%).
- Unit 2 — Cognition: Memory models (encoding, storage, retrieval), schemas, and heuristics vs. algorithms.
- Unit 3 — Development and Learning: Classical vs. operant conditioning, schedules of reinforcement, observational learning (Pavlov, Skinner, Bandura), plus Piaget's stages and attachment.
- Unit 4 — Social Psychology and Personality: Attribution, conformity, obedience, group dynamics, and the major personality theories.
- Unit 5 — Mental and Physical Health: DSM-5-TR categories, major disorders, treatment types, and stress.
Cram Strategy for AP Psych
- Take a 10-question diagnostic by unit to find your biggest gaps in the next 30 minutes.
- Review the 3 units you scored lowest on using spaced repetition — don't re-read whole chapters.
- Practice writing one stimulus-based response applying a psychological concept to a scenario.
- Memorize the key researchers for each unit — the exam frequently asks you to connect findings to specific psychologists.
AimFive's Cram Mode builds a 20-question session from your worst-performing questions — no filler, no repeats you already know. It's the fastest way to use the time you have left.
